1100 Killed across Country Due to Heatwave - Monsoon Around 31st May 2015


India recorded its highest maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

The “red box” warning has been issued by the meteorological department for Odisha, Jharkhand and coastal Andhra Pradesh. This result in high chances of heatstroke and dehydration.

According to uthorities most of the victims who were killed due to heatwave were construction workers, the elderly or the homeless.


A sizzling sun baked large parts of Punjab and Haryana as maximum temperatures settled at a few notches above normal in most areas. Karnal in Haryana recorded 44°C, four degrees above normal, while searing heat swept Ludhiana in Punjab at 42.6°C.

The monsoon will hit the Indian mainland around May 31.
