Maggi Makers - Government Laboratories were not Equipped to Conduct Lead Content Test

Nestle India, which is involved in a controversy over Maggi noodles claimed that government laboratories were not equipped to conduct lead content test.

Nestle company said that the tests for the same samples done in two different laboratories yields different results.

The counsel for Nestle appealed to the court that the ban should be struck down, terming it as illegal. Maggi was banned after excess levels of lead and MSG were found in samples.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has banned all variants of Maggi noodles terming them as "unsafe and hazardous" for human consumption.
